Rick is responsible for development and implementation of a national system of accreditation for exemplary secondary business administration programs which includes the areas of management, marketing, finance, entrepreneurship and hospitality/tourism. His work involves conducting research and working with a national accreditation advisory committee to identify standards, criteria and processes for project implementation and system management.
Rick earned both his Bachelor’s degree in Marketing Education and Master’s degree in Vocational Education from The Ohio State University. His career spanned 36 plus years in education beginning as a Marketing Education teacher. He spent the last 25 years of his career with the Ohio Department of Education where he served as a consultant for Marketing Education before moving into the position of Assistant Director for Business, Marketing and Information Technology. He finished his career as Associate State Director. Rick also served as State Advisor for DECA and Business Professionals of America. He served on the Board of Directors for MBAResearch, DECA and BPA. He is an Honorary Life Member of DECA and was inducted into the National Hall of Fame for BPA. He also received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Ohio Association of Career Technical Education. Rick retired from the Ohio Department of Education in June, 2011.
Rick and his wife Nancy have two children, Sarah and Matt, and a granddaughter, Ava.
