Business, industry, and education leaders gathered on May 11 in Lincoln at the Nebraska Bankers Association to attend a meeting held by the Nebraska affiliate of the national MBA Business Coalition for Education. Bonnie Sibert and Jacqui Garrison of the Nebraska Department of Education facilitated the meeting along with Rick Mangini of the MBA Research and Curriculum Center.

Organizations, associations and chambers represented at the meeting were: AIM Institute, AKSARBEN Foundation, Avenue Scholars, Health Center Association of Nebraska, Nebraska Bankers Association, Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nebraska Independent Community Bankers, Nebraska Retail Federation, Nebraska State Human Resource Management Association, Nebraska State Human Resource Management Association—Lincoln Chapter, Nebraska Business and Industry Council—Economic Development, and Nebraska Business and Industry—Labor.

Shonna Dorsey of the AIM Institute agreed to chair the group, whose next meeting will be held in August. The Nebraska affiliate is a partnership between the Nebraska Department of Education, professional/trade associations in Nebraska, and MBA Research and Curriculum Center.

Coalitions consist of professional/trade associations, foundations, and chambers of commerce working in partnership with their respective state education departments and MBA Research and Curriculum Center. The concept is designed to help strengthen and promote Business Administration programs in Career Technical Education (CTE). Participating associations formally endorse MBA Research's industry-validated National Business Administration Standards. Students, educators and business leaders are all sure to benefit from shared knowledge and expertise. Additional state affiliates of the national MBA Business Coalitions for Education are currently being organized in Ohio, Kentucky, Iowa, Alabama, Oregon, Colorado, and Idaho.
